MCL's newly patented alloy "FeAlOY" offers a resource-saving alternative to common nickel-based materials.
While the material is hot-rolled, we sinter the mechanically alloyed powders into compact solids for further applications. In addition to sinter components, the aim is to adjust the microstructure in the best possible way for use at high temperatures of up to 1200 °C. The consolidation via hot-rolling is done in cooperation with the Chair of Forming Technology at Montanuniversität Leoben and gives us the opportunity to take the next step from the laboratory to large-scale industrial applications.

Behind the Scenes: MCLs patentierte Legierung "FeAlOY"
Die vom MCL neu patentierte Legierung "FeAlOY" bietet eine ressourcenschonende Alternative zu gängigen Werkstoffen auf Nickelbasis.
Beim Walzen des Materials verdichten wir die mechanisch legierten Pulver zu kompakten Festkörpern für weitere Anwendungen. Ziel ist es, neben kompakten Bauteilen die Mikrostruktur bestmöglich für die Anwendung bei hohen Temperaturen von bis zu 1200 °C einzustellen. Die Konsolidierung über Walzen in Kooperation mit dem Lehrstuhl für Umformtechnik der Montanuniversität Leoben bietet uns hier die Möglichkeit den nächsten Schritt vom Labor zur großindustriellen Anwendung zu gehen.
