Thermophysical Laboratory

The core competencies of our area for thermophysical properties are the determination of the basic thermophysical properties of metallic – above all steels – and ceramic materials. The measurements are performed in cooperation with the accredited physical laboratory of the Austrian Foundry Institute (ÖGI).

Our Range of Services

  • Measurement of thermal diffusivity from -60°C to 1200°C acc. to EN 821-2 (1997)
  • Measurement of thermal expansion of solid bodies from -60°C to 1200°C acc. to DIN 51045-1 (2005)
  • Measurement of specific heat capacity from 100°C to 1100°C acc. to EN 821-3 (2005)
  • Measurement of density at room temperature by means of a hydrostatic balance
  • Calculation of thermal conductivity with the measured data of thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity, thermal expansion and density
